HOW TO APPLY-KINDERGARTEN

Step 1
Submit your application online. Create a username and password, then fill out the application. A $60 application fee is required and is payable by credit card or check. If you are applying for financial aid and circumstances make it difficult for you to pay the application fee, we will waive your application fee. Please note: You do not need to wait for the ECAA test results or completion of your Optional Parent Statement before submitting your application. Once you submit your application, you will receive an emailed response that your application has been received. (If you prefer not to apply online and would like application materials sent to you, please call the Admissions office.)

Step 2
Read and Download/Print these necessary forms. These forms provide you with information that is important to the admissions process. Please print these forms as needed.
The Parent Statement is an optional opportunity for parents to express their interest in The Dalton School. You may use our downloadable form or a separate piece of paper. Remember to put your child's name on it. Kindly keep this statement to 1 typed page or less.  You may return this form to us via mail OR fax; please do not do both.  Our fax number is 212-423-5467. Click here to download this form.

*ISAAGNY (Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York) Confidential School Report and cover letter is to be given to your child's current school director or teacher to fill out. Only one form needs to be completed and copies can be sent to all the ISAAGNY schools to which you are applying. This report is considered confidential once it has been filled out and must be submitted directly from your child's current school to Dalton. If your child attends an ISAAGNY school, the school will have the form.   Click here to download this form.

Parent Checklist is provided to help parents keep track of their appointments during this process. It also lists all of Dalton's requirements.   Click here to download this form.

Step 3
Register for Admission testing. Dalton requires each applicant to take the Early Childhood Admission Assessment (ECAA) standardized test which is administered by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB).  This test is also required for applicants who are applying from out of state or from a country other than the USA.  Please go to the online ERB Registration button and register early.  Be sure to request that the test results be sent directly to Dalton.  The ECAA testing fee reduction form and instructions are available on the ERB website.  Click the ERB link below.
