The objectives of teaching at The Dalton School include: tailoring each student's program to his or her needs, interests, and abilities, promoting independence and dependability, and enhancing the student's social skills and sense of responsibility towards others.

Qualifications for teaching at Dalton include: BA required, MA preferred; strong background and knowledge of the desired discipline; ability to work well with a range of able, highly motivated children; ability to work well with a team; strong organizational skills and high energy and creativity.
