The Campaign

Where We Stand

With record numbers in admissions applications, an endowment at its highest level ever, and a diverse student body, we are planning for the future from a position of strength. As global society experiences intense shifts in technology, communication, and economics, we are sharply focused on evolving and adapting to best serve our students. As we celebrate Dalton’s 100th birthday, this is a transformational moment with an exciting, once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine our school for the 21st century.

Founder Helen Parkhurst expected as much. Her dictate was to change with the changing world. To this end, the School will continue to explore innovative pedagogical approaches and ideas and prepare our students for new ways of learning.

While our mission remains relevant, our physical plant has not. To modernize our facility so that our building is conducive to collaborative work, we have embarked upon the most ambitious expansion in the school’s history adding two floors atop the 89th Street building and restacking and renovating other floors. Construction began this past summer and will continue during school breaks until completion in Fall 2019.

Now in the public phase of the Campaign, our goal is to fully fund the cost of the building. We will look to every member of our community to participate in this important initiative. In addition to the 89th Street Expansion/Renovation Fund, together, with your support, proceeds from the Dalton Centennial Campaign will fund Strategic Plan priorities outlined here.
