Physical Education

Dalton has a historical commitment to educating the whole child with emphasis on physical education beginning early at Dalton. From the First Program through the High School, the curriculum is designed so that all students, regardless of athletic ability, are able to enjoy their physical education experience.

In the First Program, physical education encompasses movement education, games that incorporate cooperation in a non-competitive environment, building skills toward team sports, as well as teaching the benefits of cardiovascular and muscular fitness.

All First Program students work on motor and ball skill development, tumbling, and gymnastics units. In addition, second and third graders begin soccer, hockey, new comb/volleyball, basketball, and other organized sports.
