Government
Dalton's student government is composed of a legislature and cabinet and is headed by a president. The full legislature, comprising every High School student and faculty member, meets frequently to engage in a wide variety of activities. Elected committee heads, representatives, and interested students participate in the cabinet, which implements legislation. Legislative sessions are presided over by the High School President.
In these meetings, resolutions that propose changing policy and/or procedural matters are debated, important social issues of the day are discussed, or informative speakers address the assembly about relevant matters in the lives of our community members. All resolutions are discussed with and approved by the advisor to government prior to their presentation in the general assembly.
High School Government presents a unique opportunity in the school week to bring the entire High School together in a common endeavor and provide an outlet for student opinion that can be readily transmitted to the administration. The enthusiastic participation of each member is encouraged and welcomed.
