Girls Swimming Defeats Fieldston including a New School Record
On January 18, Dalton Swimming traveled to Fieldston to take on Ivy League Rivals Poly Prep and Fieldston. The Girls came away with their first league victory, defeating Fieldston 49-45 and tying Poly 45-45.
During the meet, several close finishes helped Dalton secure the victory and the tie. Senior Captain Jane Cahill took second place in the 50 freestyle in 26.94, her fastest career time at Dalton. Junior Jaimie Li took first place in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:14.56, just outreaching her closest opponent to the touchpad by 3/10 of a second. Most impressively, sophomore Kayla Bolster took first place in the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:23.50, breaking a Dalton school record by over 8 seconds.
The Dalton teams now prepare for the Ivy League Trials Championships from February 13 to February 15.
