Nike Sneaker Designer Helps HS Students with 3D Engineering Project
Israel Mateo, a footwear designer for Nike and Jordan Brand, joined students virtually in Dalton’s Engineering and Design Workshop to offer his expertise and guidance as students work on their own custom sneaker projects.
In the virtual class, students shared two-dimensional sketches of their sneaker designs as Mr. Mateo and faculty member Jonathan Tatkon-Coker gave helpful critiques on their presentations. As students continue the project, they will transfer their sketches into three dimensions using CAD models and then back into 2D-cut patterns to use for fabrication. At the end of the project, students will end up with a wearable prototype of their own custom shoes.
