First Program Supports NYCP With Souper Bowl Roll VI
With Super Bowl Sunday in their sights, First Program students gathered together for the sixth annual Souper Bowl Roll February 7-10.
For the event, K-3 students collected canned goods for New York Common Pantry (NYCP) but before donating, took a turn at rolling their can in the 91st Street Gym competition. Students rolled their cans down a ramp while the FP Science team recorded the data. Some cans went far, some went only a few centimeters, and others veered sideways!
The longest roll of the week traveled more than 10 meters, while the highest percentage (29.7% of the cans) settled around two meters.
In addition to the 293 cans donated, First Program collected pasta and filled six large boxes with plasticware for NYCP.
