On Wednesday, José shadowed a First Program student, enjoyed lunch with FP Faculty, and participated in an MS/HS Faculty Meeting.
Thursday morning began with a visit with the DEI Office before José followed an MS student to several classes. In addition, José toured Dalton East and the 87th Street Athletics facility with Director of Athletics Teddy Frischling ‘89. José's busy day concluded with an Alumni Council Reception, where he provided an overview of his background and learned about the many ways the Council enhances and supports Alumni involvement in the school.
Finally, on Friday, José shadowed a senior who brought him along to her French class (Atelier: A Creative Writing Course in French "A"), House, and Advanced Organic Chemistry class. In addition to accompanying her around Big Dalton, José attended meetings with HS students and the Parents Association Executive Board.
"Whether I was playing the maracas in the First Program music class, losing badly to a 5th grader in a spirited math game, or debating high schoolers during house about the quality of the "Mamma Mia 2" soundtrack, I was so deeply moved by the joy I saw from the students I encountered over the last few days," José said. "I feel even more excited to lead our community in service to them. I just wish I hadn't lost in that math game!"
Dalton's soon-to-be Head of School officially begins his tenure on July 1.
