Students Learn the Traditional Technique of Indian Woodblock Printing

Students in Visual Art Teacher Linda Hanauer's HS Printmaking course practiced the traditional technique of Indian Woodblock printing.
Using woodblocks carved in Jaipur and other areas of India, students printed repeated patterns on paper to create covers for handmade books and printed woodblocks onto cotton tea towels and linen.

Visiting artist Jenny Cooper — who studied with artisans at Studio Bagru, a small town near Jaipur where artisans have been handblock printing for over 350 years — worked with students.
