Visual Art Fundamentals Class Participates in a Blindfolded Pottery Challenge
High School Students in Visual Arts Teacher David Rubin’s Visual Art Fundamentals (VAF) class recently undertook an unusual activity in ceramics class: a blindfolded pottery challenge.
This semester, students experienced fluency development in wheel throwing techniques, but David decided to increase the difficulty by adding a mask blindfold into the mix. The exercise was intended to help the students become more attuned to their sense of touch.
Initially wary of the challenge, students were surprised to see their wheel-throwing skills improve following the reorientation of their senses.
