George Porteous ’23 Named a National YoungArts Finalist in Theater

Congratulations to George Porteous ‘23 on being named a 2023 YoungArts winner and finalist in theater, the organization’s highest honor!
Earning the honor for artistic achievement, George joins 150 finalists from across the country, including just 16 in theater, following a rigorous, blind adjudication process of approximately 7,000 applicants.
As a finalist, George will participate in National YoungArts Week in Miami in January 2023. He is also eligible to be nominated as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, one of the highest honors given to high school seniors by the President of the United States.

YoungArts, the sole nominating agency, nominates 60 artists to the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, from which the 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts are selected.

As a YoungArts award winner, George joins a distinguished group of accomplished artists such as Terence Blanchard, Timothée Chalamet, Viola Davis, Amanda Gorman, Judith Hill, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Andrew Rannells, and Hunter Schafer.
