Read about some of the great performances and highlights from the past week. This week features Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, and Volleyball.
Varsity Volleyball
The Varsity Volleyball team kicked off the week with a non-league win against Nightingale, followed by a league victory against Riverdale on Friday. Dalton defeated Riverdale by wiinning in straight sets, marking their third win in four games. Senior Olivia Munnell said that “we expect to make it to states and continue to fight hard.” The team’s next game is a rematch of a closely contested homecoming loss to Trinity and they enter the game with new momentum and excitement.

Boys Varsity Soccer
The Boys Varsity Soccer team continued a string of positive results with a 5-0 win against Collegiate on Wednesday. Junior Jacob Edelman scored his first two goals of the season, and the team mounted a continuously strong offensive attack. Friday’s game provided a new challenge, as Dalton went up against Riverdale, one of the top teams in the Ivy League. The Tigers took the lead with an early a penalty kick but fell behind 2-1 early in the second half. However, senior Justin Taub’s 12th goal of the season even the scored with the game ended in a draw. This tie puts Dalton in second place, just one point ahead of Riverdale, with a big game against undefeated Trinity next Wednesday in the hunt for the Ivy Prep title.

Girls Varsity Soccer
The Girls Varsity Soccer team played Riverdale this Friday in a rematch of last year's championship game. Despite a goal from senior captain Kara Siegel and a terrific save on a penalty kick from junior goalkeeper Claire Marchand, the team fell to Riverdale 2-1. "Even though we lost, it was really fun to see Claire save a penalty," said senior Charlotte Leone, "Definitely one of the best moments of the season so far." The team is looking to end the season strong and make a push for the state tournament with matchups against a challenging schedule of Hackley, Trinity, and Riverdale next week.
