Dalton Tiger Report - This Week In Athletics (10-21)
Read about some of the great performances and highlights from the past week. This week features Volleyball, Football, and Cross Country.
Cross Country
After a tough loss earlier in the week against Trinity, Girls Volleyball had an emphatic 3-0 win over Riverdale on Saturday, October 20. The victory gives the Tigers their third league win. With two games left -- a 5:30 PM home game against Avenues on Wednesday, October 24 and a road contest against Horace Mann on Friday, October 26 -- Dalton Volleyball attempts to end their regular season on a high note in the hopes of qualifying for the NYSAIS tournament for a sixth consecutive year.
Football
Boys Football suffered their first league loss of the season on Saturday, October 20 against Horace Mann in their final regular season HVFL game. The Tigers trailed by 19 points in the fourth before two touchdowns to cut the lead to one score. The defense could not hold the Lions from converting a 3rd and short ending the game with Dalton losing 26-19. The Tigers now prepare for a first-round matchup in the HVFL playoffs against Harvey on Saturday, October 27 before a potential rematch against Horace Mann for the league championship on Saturday, November 3.

The Boys Cross Country team finished in second place at the NYC XC Festival on Saturday, October 20. Three members of the team finished in the top 10 -- Ari Eaton (3rd), Nate Zelter (4th), and Davide Murillo (7th) -- with two additional Dalton runners all breaking the 16-minute barrier. Both Boys and Girls teams now prepare for the Ivy Championships on Friday, October 26.
