Rain Condie ‘18 Scores Penalty Kick to Win National Championship for Williams College Soccer
Recent Dalton alumna Rain Condie delivered the decisive penalty shot for Williams College to defeat Middlebury College in the DIII Women’s Soccer National Championship.
Rain, a member of Dalton's back-to-back 2016 and 2017 Girls Soccer NYSAIS Championship teams, stepped into the penalty box on a fittingly rain-soaked field with the PK round knotted at 2-2. The game had entered the penalty kick shootout after both teams battled for 110 minutes, leaving the match tied at 1-1.
Rain calmly shot the ball to the left goal post, beyond the outstretched arms of the Middlebury keeper and into the back of the net, giving Williams the 3-2 lead and ultimately the title. Williams finished the season with a 19-1-4 record and earned its 3rd national championship in the last four years.
