Dalton Tiger Report - This Week In Athletics (2-10)

Read about some of the great performances and highlights from the past week. This week features Swimming, Wrestling, Boys Basketball, and Girls Basketball.
Swimming
The Dalton Swim team capped off a season of mixed results with a terrific performance in the Ivy League Championships on Tuesday, February 5 at Lehman College. Nine school records were set while four members of the team earned All-Ivy Honors. Freshman Alyssa Fan was crowned Ivy Champion in the 50 free with a time of 25.11 earning All-Ivy honors and setting a new school record. Fan also set a new school record in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:01.68. Senior Emilio Vicioso had career-best times in the 100 free (51.59) placing seventh overall while also earning All-Ivy honors in the 100 breast, placing third overall. Sophomore Chris Kim earned All-ivy honors in the 100 back placing third while going a career-best time of 54.87 and breaking his own school record. Members of the team will now get ready to participate in the first ever NYSAIS Swimming Invitational on February 26-27.

Wrestling
Dalton Wrestling placed fifth overall as a team at the NYSAIS Championship on Saturday, February 9. Seniors Aidan Shepardson and Elie Farah both won NYSAIS State Championships with their performances. Farah's victory marked his second straight NYSAIS State Championship. Senior Jake Intrater finished in 2nd place in his weight class with juniors Jeremy Yarden and Jamaal Spence each placed fourth. Additionally, Head Coach Travis Brown was honored by the New York State Private School Wrestling Coaches Association for his 15 years of service. Shepardson and Farah head off to represent NYSAIS at the New York State Federation Championship on February 22-23 at the Albany Times Union Center.

Boys Basketball
Boys Basketball bounced back from a tough loss against Poly Prep on Monday with victories against Collegiate and Fieldston. Dalton scored 29 points in the first quarter against Fieldston and never looked back, cruising to an 82-42 victory. Against Collegiate, Dalton trailed by 6 with 2:30 left before rattling off 15 consecutive points to end the game, securing a come from behind win, 54-45. Dalton enters the final week of the regular season with a 15-4 overall record and in a tie with Poly Prep for first place in the Ivy League.

Girls Basketball
The Dalton Girls Basketball team had an impressive week with three dominant league victories: 43-21 vs. Poly Prep, 58-25 vs. Fieldston, and 61-33 vs. Riverdale. With the three wins, Dalton improved to 16-4, having won twelve of their last thirteen games. Dalton now prepares for an Ivy League matchup against Hackley on Monday, February 11, a rematch from one of the teams only defeats this season.
