Tigers Shine in Ivy Track and Field Championships

The Dalton track and field team had a wonderful Ivy League championship meet on Sunday, May 19 with numerous personal records and individual event victories.
The Boys' team tied for fourth place led by senior Zach Love, who became the first athlete to win four individual events at the meet. Love set the league's long jump record, leaping 23-3. He also won the 100 in a blistering 10.88 seconds. He was victorious in the triple jump and the 200 as well. Senior Elijah Henderson vaulted 10-6, his best-ever to come in second and threw the discus over 100 feet to place fourth. Sophomore Atti Lee and Junior Teddy Foley came in third and fourth in the pole vault as well. Senior Kyle Chan-Shue placed fifth in the triple jump and Junior Dale Dolan-Zalaznick was fifth in the high jump. Sophomore Daniel Simmons and Foley earned crucial points for the team in the 400 and the 400 hurdles.

On the Girls' side, the team was led by freshman Myeh Medina's third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Senior Camryn Smith had a personal best run in the 100 to place fifth in the event. Senior Ilana Cuello-Wolfe placed fifth in the pole vault. The 4x400 team of Medina, junior Toni Dacosta, senior Natalie Melas-Kyriazi and freshman Solange Sylvain placed sixth to round out the scoring. Of the 15 girls that competed, 13 of them had their fastest times or furthest jumps or throws of the year.
