Mary Ashley Groot Named State Player of the Year to Headline Dalton Basketball Team Accolades

The junior forward scored 24 points per game and averaged over 10 rebounds to lead Dalton to the NYSAIS Championship. She was also recently selected to compete for a spot on the U17 USA Basketball team this spring.

Also receiving all-state recognition from the NYSSWA was freshman Izzy Wesley '25. Wesley scored over 11 points, averaged over five assists per game, and led the team in steals while shutting down opposing players with defensive pressure.

 

Wesley, Groot, sophomore Susannah Zimmerman '24, and freshman Nyla Blake-Soden '25 were also named to the NY State Private School All-State team selected by the BCANY (Basketball Coaches Association of New York).

Sophomore Ayden Khalid also received all-state recognition from the BCANY. Khalid led the Boys Basketball team in scoring, averaging over 13 points per game this season.
