Dalton Tiger Report - This Week In Athletics (1-20)

Read about some of the great performances and highlights from the past week. This week features Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Indoor Track, and Wrestling.
Wrestling
Seniors Elie Farah and Jake Intrater competed in the 2019 Cliff Keen NYC Mayor's Cup Wrestling Championships featuring New York City’s top high school wrestlers from the Public Schools Athletic League, the Catholic High School Athletic Association, and the New York State Association of Independent Schools Independent Schools. Farah was named to the All-City wrestling team his performance, going 4-1 in the tournament.

Girls Basketball

The Girls Basketball team headed into a matchup with undefeated Columbia Prep riding a six-game winning streak. After trailing by 2 in the first quarter, the team took the lead and never looked back, handling pressure defense with good ball movement that led to open shots. Dalton hit 9 three-pointers in the game and held Columbia Prep to just four points in the fourth quarter on their way to a 48-34 victory and an 11-3 overall record.

Boys Basketball
The Boys Basketball team continued their hot streak with two more league wins this week, defeating Horace Mann 54-38 on Monday and Collegiate 50-42 on Wednesday. With the victories, the Tigers are now tied atop the Ivy League with a 6-1 record within the league and 12-2 overall record. Junior guard Mark Engel paced the team in scoring in both games, including 20 points against Collegiate. The team resumes their schedule in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Saturday, January 26th against Regis.

Indoor Track
The Indoor Track team continues to prepare for the Ivy Championships on February 14th and the NYSAIS Championships on February 21st as they compete in NYSAIS developmental meets. This week featured a number of personal records for members of the team as well as strong finishes among the top competitors. Zach Love had a personal record of 6.89 in the 55-meter dash while placing 6th overall. Nicholas Firestone placed 3rd overall in the shot put with a distance of 32-4.
