Dalton Tiger Report - This Week In Athletics (9-29)

Volleyball

The Tigers have continued to roll after their impressive victory over Trinity at Homecoming. Dalton started their slate of games this week with a 3-0 victory over Holy Child on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Dalton faced Ivy League opponent Horace Mann. After taking the first set convincingly 25-12, Dalton proceeded to drop the next two sets and found themselves trailing 1-2. Dalton dominated the 4th set 25-8 before holding on take the fifth and final set and defeat Horace Mann 3-2. Senior captain Jasmin Young and freshman Adele Hoinacki combined for 23 kills in the victory. Dalton continued their winning streak by defeating Nightingale, 3-1. The Tigers are off to one of their best starts in program history with a 6-2 overall record and tied for 2nd place in the Ivy League. Their next game will be against rival Fieldston on Friday, October 4 in an important Ivy League matchup.

Cross Country

Dalton had a fantastic showing in their latest Ivy League development meet on Wednesday that included the Girls team placing 2nd overall. 8th Grader Naomi Gomel and senior captain Toni DaCosta continued their remarkable seasons finishing first and second respectively in the girls' race. Gomel won the race with a time of 17:19 with DaCosta coming in just three seconds behind. In the boys' race, senior captain Ari Eaton finished 6th with a time of 14:28. Ravi Eaton and Luke Rostan also were among the top 20 runners. The Tigers will now have another league developmental meet on Wednesday as they prepare for the important Mayor's Cup on Sunday.
