Dalton Wins Robotics Tournaments in PA and NYC

The Dalton robotics teams split up last weekend to compete in two separate robotics tournaments, one in Pennsylvania and one here in NYC at Horace Mann.

Four of the teams traveled to PA, but it was team Atomic Theory that took the day, going 5-0 in the qualifying rounds. This team’s performance ranked #1, just above former world champions Cubix. Atomic Theory and Cubix teamed up to go undefeated in the playoffs; they won the tournament and posted the second-highest score in the world.

Meanwhile, team Uncertainty Principle brought its newly redesigned robot to Horace Mann, where it took on 26 teams from around NYC. The team went 4-1 in the qualifying rounds by shifting strategies mid-competition and focusing on moving quickly around the field. Team members ended up ranked #4 overall and teamed up with the #3 ranked team for the playoffs. After several closely contested matches Uncertainty Principle upset the top-ranked alliance in the finals and won the tournament. This team also placed second overall in judging and won the Motivate award for team spirit and efforts to promote LGBTQ Awareness in the robotics community.

Congratulations to both teams, and best of luck to our teams in their upcoming tournaments!
