Dalton Update: March 16, 2020 - Message from Jim Best - 3/16/20

Dear Dalton Community,

As you probably know, Mayor de Blasio announced that New York City will close all public school buildings until Monday, April 20. The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has asked all New York City independent schools to do the same. Therefore, Dalton's facilities will remain closed until April 20, and our remote learning plan will resume following Spring Break.

I understand the challenges that this decision creates for families, faculty, and staff. I also understand that the complexity of this pandemic requires individuals and organizations to coordinate responses and make sacrifices in pursuit of the common good.

With so much coming our way, seemingly by the hour, we know how important clear communication and helpful information can be. We will be in touch with you early next week with details of our remote learning plans. And we ask that you continue to visit our COVID-19 Updates page for helpful resources.

In the meantime, thanks for your support, flexibility, and offers of assistance. I hope you'll find time and space to refresh and rejuvenate over Spring Break. And I hope you’ll continue to demonstrate kindness, compassion, and generosity of spirit at every turn.

With resolve and optimism-

Jim
