Getting Ready for Digital Dalton - Message from Jim Best - 3/25/20

Dear Families,

I haven't written to you in a while. In some ways, I feel that I should be writing to you every hour of every day. But I've also wanted to honor our break and to communicate in a way that makes you feel informed and included but not overwhelmed.
I can say this: I've been thinking about you every hour of every day. In fact, thinking about you has been a grounding force during a disorienting time. I'm wishing you my very, very best.

Today I want to set the table for Digital Dalton. It's almost here! It begins in earnest on Monday, March 30.

This Friday, I'll send you an email that welcomes you to Digital Dalton — with messages from the Division Directors that offer a kind of orientation to divisional plans and expectations — including division-specific links with information about schedules, logistics, and resources. I'll send that same email to High School students.

An important note for K-5 parents: If you're unable to use a family device or have not yet picked up a school device, we'll provide an additional opportunity on Monday, March 30, from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. Parents of K-3 students can pick up iPads at 91st Street. Parents of 4th and 5th graders can pick up laptops at 89th Street.

And an important note for everyone: Let's be patient and generous with each other as we explore this new landscape. If you're juggling work and childcare—we understand; we can work with that. If you're caring for family members, or if your household schedule gets scrambled on a daily basis—we understand; we can work with that. And if you're able to help a family that could use some help (maybe you can offer an hour of remote tutoring; maybe you can arrange a grocery drop-off), that would be amazing. We're all in this together.

All right. More soon. Sending courage and good wishes--

Jim
