Charlie Parker at 100: Dalton HS Students Pay Tribute to the Jazz Legend
The music world is celebrating famed American jazz saxophonist and composer Charlie Parker's centennial, and Dalton High School students participated in honoring the legendary musician by performing his 12 bar blues, "Now's The Time."
Along with fellow famed jazz musician Dizzy Gillespie, Parker is credited with inventing the musical style known as bop or bebop. Although he was only 34 years old when he died, Parker’s influence left a lasting cultural and musical impact across all genres of art and music.
The three Dalton jazz groups virtually recorded “Now’s The Time,” one of Parker’s most famous compositions which can be viewed by clicking here.
