Girls Track and Field Captures 2022 NYSAIS Championship

It was a historic week for the girls' track and field team, winning the second NYSAIS championship in school history a week after capturing its first Ivy League title in a decade.
The two victories included incredible individual and team performances from everyone!

The 4x100 relay team of Agatha Chan '23, Danielle Jefferson '24, Sasha Galbraith '24 and Nicole Swan '23 cruised to the title at the NYSAIS meet. Then, in the most exciting race of the day to cap off the meet, Agatha, Danielle, Hannah Cenedella '23, and Lauren Barakett '23 won the 4x400 relay when Danielle chased down a Spence runner in the final 75 meters to give the Tigers the victory!

Other All-State performers included Nicole, who broke the school record in the 200, Nyla Blake-Soden '25 in the triple jump, long jump, 100, and 200; Danielle in the 400; Naomi Gomel '24 in the 1500, Sarah Thomas '24 in the 100 hurdles, the 4x800 team of Naomi, Sofia Gulati '23, Solange Sylvain '22, Annika Jha '24. 
Nyla had a stellar day, winning the triple jump and finishing second in the 100 and 200. Other gold medalists included Danielle in the 400 and the 4x100 relay team of Agatha, Danielle, Sasha, and Nicole and the 4x400 relay team that featured Agatha, Danielle, Hannah, and Gabriella Dwin '24. 

Myeh Medina '22 won the 100 hurdles and finished second behind Sarah in the 400 hurdles. Sarah also placed second in the 100 hurdles. Sofia passed four girls in the final 50 meters of the 1600 to finish third in the event and Ciara Balanzá '23 came in third in the 3200. Izzy Wesley '25 came in third in the shot put.

Great job to the entire team on an incredible season!
