HS Students Photograph Artwork to Create Portfolios

To showcase their art, High School students began photographing their work on the 10M floor in Visual Art Studio (VAS) class this week.
Each fall, the HS Visual Arts faculty assist the VAS Seniors in photographing, editing, and creating their portfolios. To facilitate this process, the faculty set up a seamless backdrop and lighting in the 10th floor lab workspace.

Most Seniors in VAS submit art portfolios — which are vital for students applying to art, design, and fashion programs — as a supplement to their college applications.

A newer class at Dalton, VAS is a course for students who have taken two years of Visual Arts and intend, as Juniors and Seniors, to create a cohesive body of work and intensively explore a process or medium.

It’s always wonderful to see the students’ work from the past years showcased and celebrated! Keep an eye out over the next few weeks to see some of the final portfolio photographs.
