MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH TEACHER (LEAVE REPLACEMENT)
The Dalton School seeks a Middle School Math Teacher Leave Replacement for grades 4 and 8 beginning February through the end of the school year.
The ideal teacher enjoys inquiry and insights by a broad range of math learners and is familiar with curricular innovations to enhance math learning beyond traditional methods. Curricular content in grades 4 focuses on operational fluency, number sense and number theory, fractions, decimals and plane geometry. Curricular content in grade 8 includes: solving first degree and linear equations and inequalities, operations with polynomials, factoring, solving simultaneous equations, working with functions, working with quadratic functions and inequalities, and simplifying rational and irrational expressions. Candidates should be passionate and knowledgeable about progressive mathematics education, problem-based learning and differentiation. The Dalton School is committed to integrating elements of STEAM and transdisciplinary teaching and learning into its programs. We seek teachers who are enthusiastic about working collaboratively to design curriculum that addresses the whole child and to improve pedagogy. Master degree in education or Mathematics strongly preferred, in addition to experience teaching similar math content.
