Ranking Authority - 4th Graders Think Hard!

Roxanne Feldman
When facing a list of Search Engine Results, how does one determine the Authority of each web site or other information sources?

4th grade students examined five different sources and the providers of the information.  They discussed in small groups and ranked the authority of the sources.  We then investigated the authorship of Wikipedia by going through the publishing history of a specific page and discovering how difficult it is to determine which "author" is more credible than others, or whether the changes were improvement to the overall quality and validity of the page.
