"I Sing Bejing" Visits Dalton For World Language and Music Students
Story and photos by Lori Langer de Ramirez ~ Representatives from the “I Sing Beijing” program visited Dalton on Tuesday, January 29 to perform for World Language and Music students.
The program, directed by Metropolitan opera singer Master Hao Jiang Tian, brings up-and-coming opera singers to Beijing for summer internships to study Mandarin language and to perform opera in Chinese. During Master Tian’s visit to Dalton, four young performers sang for students and answered questions about their experiences learning and singing in Chinese. Advanced students of Mandarin also attended a Chinese-language press conference with Master Tian as a means of improving their listening skills in the language. Dalton was chosen to be the first school to experience the troupe’s new educational outreach program and the visit was facilitated by the Asia Society.
