The annual spring training trip organized by KSA Events returned to Universal for the fourth straight year.
Dalton Baseball, Softball, Boys Lacrosse, Girls Lacrosse and Boys Tennis departed the Athletics Center for JFK Airport at 4 AM. Four days of practices, exhibitions and theme parks followed before the teams left Orlando last Wednesday morning.
“It has been a really cool tradition that started with baseball and softball, then about 20 years ago we found a way to send every team, which is great,” Director of Athletics Teddy Frischling ’89 said. “I’ve thought about it over the years of maybe not going every year, but the few years we didn’t go, it hurt. It felt like something was missing, that bond and connection.”
Frischling joked how as a winter coach (Boys Varsity Basketball), he’s always jealous of the relationships that are fostered in Florida.
Varsity Baseball scrimmaged Loyola (NY) and South Ridge (MN), who appeared in the state semifinals last year. JV Baseball’s exhibition was against Harrison (PA). Varsity Softball faced Pittsford Sutherland (NY). Boys Tennis defeated Marlboro (NJ).
Boys Lacrosse topped East River (FL) 16-1 as Daya Singh ’26, Tomás Laddaga ’26 and James Simmons ’28 all notched a hat trick. Girls Lacrosse battled Xaverian (NY) and Berkhamsted (Hertfordshire, England). Head coach Amber Atlas highlighted the opportunity to play a school located 30 miles north of London.
“It was a great game, and the two teams enjoyed a lunch together afterward. They shared stories of school life in New York City and England. Everyone had a fun time. Berkhamsted gifted us tote bags with their school logo,” Atlas said.
Dalton Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, Tennis, Volleyball and Golf all meet Fieldston on Wednesday, April 8. Track and Field opens its season at Hackley on Thursday, April 9.
