Robotics Team “Event Horizon” Secures Spot at World Championship
This past March was a historic month for our robotics program, with FRC Team 10229, Event Horizon, delivering a spectacular performance at the Hudson Valley Regional.
Their outstanding success on the field and in the judging pits has officially secured them a coveted spot at the World Championship in Houston later this month!
The 2026 competitive season centers around the dynamic game, REBUILT. In this challenge, alliances compete to score 5” balls called FUEL into their designated HUB. REBUILT introduces a unique strategic twist with ALLIANCE SHIFTS, in which a team hub alternates between active and inactive based on how much FUEL they scored during the opening Autonomous period. Teams cap off the match with an endgame challenge where robots attempt to climb a structure known as the TOWER to earn critical points.
Event Horizon proved to be a powerhouse at the Hudson Valley Regional. Competing in only their second year, the team comprises 10 students. They performed exceptionally well, fighting their way through the playoff bracket to emerge as members of the Regional Winning Alliance. Furthermore, their innovative robot design and clear documentation of their engineering process earned them the prestigious Excellence in Engineering Award. This rare combination of dominance on the field and technical recognition is what punched their ticket to the World Championship.
Before heading to Houston, Event Horizon has one more local challenge. They will be competing at the NYC Regional this weekend, April 10 through 12, at The Armory.
The event is open to spectators, and we encourage our community to come out and support the team! If you cannot make it in person, you can still catch all the action online:
Schedule note: The competition and livestream will take a pause for lunch from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
We are incredibly proud of these students and their dedication, creativity, and engineering prowess. The season is just hitting its peak, and we cannot wait to see Event Horizon take on the next level!
