A Step Back in Time: Alumni Visit Historic Fraunces Tavern
Last week, a group of Dalton alumni from Classes of 1952-1979 visited Fraunces Tavern, New York's oldest and most historic bar and restaurant. Established in 1762, this New York City landmark once served as a watering hole for some Founding Fathers.
The group enjoyed a fascinating private tour of the museum, which included the George Washington Portrait Gallery, Revolutionary War artifacts, including the Path to Liberty series, and the Long Room — where General George Washington gave his farewell address and where tradition dictated giving 13 public toasts, one for each of the 13 newly independent states.
They then transitioned to a delicious multi-course lunch in the beautifully appointed Washington Room. It was a special opportunity for graduates spanning three decades to come together, learn, and reminisce.
