Since it began in the 2005-2006 academic year — nearly 20 years ago — the Science Fiction and Fantasy Club, also known as SciFan, has hosted weekly meetings, movie outings, board game nights, a yearly sleepover, and other fun activities.
This vibrant and inclusive community has been a defining part of the Dalton experience for many students.
On Friday, February 6, SciFan celebrated this storied history (and faculty advisor extraordinaire Roxanne Feldman as she approaches her retirement) in the High School Library on the 4th floor of 89th Street. The event brought together 60 alumni from the classes of 2008 through 2025, and the space was quickly filled with stories and laughter. The three current heads of the club spoke about their goals and initiatives, and they expressed gratitude for the lasting importance of the club.
We are so grateful to Middle School Librarian Roxanne Feldman P’17 and Celena Kopinski ’10 for helping to organize this memorable event. Their vision and dedication were key, and we have already started to consider ways for other clubs to follow suit!
