7th Grade Spanish Classes Discover Arabic Art in Andalucía

7th grade Spanish students recently visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art and explored the galleries with the art of Islamic Spain.
After embarking on an Assignment on Spain that incorporates a focus on history, architecture, and peoples of the country, students saw traditional plasterwork, woodcarvings, and tilework based on patterns from the Alhambra and various other locations in southern Spain. They were also able to see the impressive recreation of a Moroccan Patio, very similar to those in Andalucia, and the ceiling of a Spanish church in the Mudejar style. Students were also accompanied by their 7th grade history teachers, who helped students to further make connections with art and architecture with their current history Assignment on the Islamic world.
