This week, 4th grade students got seriously playful as they explored paint through large-scale spray painting.
Students used large sheets of paper, spray bottles, and liquid paint to experiment with splattering, layering, and color mixing. Along the way, they discovered that lifting and tilting their papers allowed the colors to mix and drip in unexpected ways, creating new effects and inspiring their next moves.
With our school-wide interest in play and joy this year, this felt like a particularly joyful example of what that can look like in the art studio. Students engaged their creativity and curiosity while also using their whole bodies to paint, move, experiment, and respond to what was happening on the page.
