Welcome from Vice President Maxime (Maxie) Glass Harnik '05
Approaching 20 years on the Alumni Council (including two as a student representative), I am thrilled to be stepping into the role of Vice President. Over the years, I served as Secretary, spent time on the Dalton Connects committee, and dedicated most of my time to leading the Events Committee.
Our events include alumni speakers on a specific topic, social gatherings, sandwich preparation for food pantries, and Shabbat dinners bringing together multiple generations.
I am proud to be a Dalton parent and was a Dalton faculty member at First Program for seven years. Most of my former students are now alumni too, so I look forward especially to involving many of them as part of our focus of connecting with Young Alumni.
A highlight of serving on the Alumni Council is getting to know and working alongside alumni from a wide range of classes. Experiencing and gathering diverse perspectives deeply enriches the work we do. I am also very grateful to our administration and leadership across the entire school for working alongside the Alumni Council to enrich our programming and extend our reach.
A goal I always have in mind in my work on the Council is to bridge the experience alumni had at Dalton as students with the Dalton of today. One of the hallmarks of Dalton is that it stays true to itself and the Dalton Plan, while constantly adapting to meet the needs of today’s students and world. As an example, when you visit, you will see the familiar archaeological dig in the backyard of First Program and be astonished by the new STEAM floors at Big Dalton. Alumni really light up when they walk through the doors at Dalton and start to remember different experiences and community members.
I hope you’ll join us at an event sometime soon!
Go Forth Unafraid!
