Last weekend, the Dalton Chess team traveled to Baltimore, Maryland, to compete in the 2026 U.S. Chess National Elementary (K-6) Championship. Held at the Baltimore Convention Center, this prestigious event brought together upwards of 2,500 of the top young players from across the country for seven intense rounds of play.
Our students demonstrated remarkable focus, sportsmanship, and strategic depth throughout the weekend. Competing in various sections, the team represented Dalton with pride, continuing the school's long-standing tradition of excellence in the chess community.
The dedicated team that supported our students in Baltimore was led by our head coach NM, WIM, FT Beatriz Marinello, alongside an extraordinary group of mentors: GM Gregory Kaidanov, GM Djurabeck Khamrakulov, NM Jerald Times, NM Vladimir Bugayev, Alex Kure, and Lenny Kadishev. These coaches provided hours of game analysis through the weekend and provided players with unparalleled levels of guidance and strategic insight.
A huge thank you to the parents who supported the team during this trip. Congratulations to all our players for their hard work and dedication on the national stage!
