A Fresh Take on a Classic: Dalton’s Production of "How to Succeed in Business"
This week, Dalton's High School production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying took over the Martin Theater.
Written in and set in 1961, the satirical piece is a story of ambition, romance, and the audacity to "fake it 'til you make it." This production reimagined the classic musical with a particular focus on the role of gender in society and its performance, and begs the question: What if instead of a young man eager to rise in the business world, Finch were an equally eager young woman? In a Shakespearian plot twist, our heroine must disguise herself as this “ideal businessman”, tricking those around her through her ingenious impersonation and cunning. The cast and crew worked tirelessly to bring this story to life, adding their own creative spark to this classic work of musical theater.
