Thunderbird Dancers Perform for Third Graders
The Thunderbird Dancers, the oldest resident Native American dance company in New York, performed for all of the third grade students. The performance included dances, storytelling and music from Iroquois, Southwest and Great Plains tribes.
One of the most interesting and enjoyable dances is the Feather Dance. A feather is placed standing up on the ground. The dancer is challenged to pick up the feather using only his or her mouth; no other body part may touch the ground.
