Second Graders Visit the Queens Museum and The Museum of the City of NY

Second graders gained wonderful insights and observations regarding architecture and city planning. This knowledge will be translated into the unique buildings that will comprise each child's city block. We look forward to viewing the completed construction of their model city blocks and Panorama.
The Panorama of the City of New York is a "site" to see of the collection of the Queens Museum. This exhibit is a celebration of the City’s municipal infrastructure by urban mastermind and World’s Fair President Robert Moses for the 1964 Fair.

Do You know the answers to these questions about city planning? If not, visit the Museum of the City of New York to learn about the history of how NYC was planned and built. You could also ask your second grader!

• How long did it take the urban planners to create the plan for Manhattan?
• What are some needs and wants for a neighborhood?
• Why did planners have to think about the size, shape, and spacing of the buildings?
• What is zoning?
• What are the 5 zones and their definitions?
