Second grade House Advisor Shobana Ram invited Māori artist Jerome Kavanagh from New Zealand to Dalton. Jerome shared Māori fascinating myths, legends, traditions, hand-carved instruments, and a traditional greeting consisting of pressing of noses.
The highlight for the second graders was to dance the Haka. This dance pays tribute to Papatuanuku (the earth mother) and the natural world that sustains all living things. Jerome and Ms. Ram have performed together at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.
