Dalton HS Student Chosen as a Finalist in the Technovation Challenge
Priya Mittal '18 has been selected as a finalist in the Technovation challenge out of thousands of submissions throughout the world. For the competition, students were asked to create a mobile app that solved a problem in their community. Priya partnered with a friend that she met at the Flatiron School to create an app that wants to "turn wasted food into wanted food."
By connecting local farms to restaurants, the app, GroGreen, hopes to minimize the amount of produce that goes to waste. Because restaurants do not care about what the original form of the produce looks like when cooking, they will benefit from buying these produce items at prices below the market line. They will pitch their idea at the World Pitch Summit in San Francisco this summer to compete for a $10,000 prize.
