Head of School Ellen C. Stein announced that current Assistant Middle School Director Tracy Fedonchik will succeed Lorri Hamilton Durbin in fall 2017 as Dalton’s next Middle School Director
In the announcement, Ms. Stein remarked, "Tracy has served the school with distinction for fourteen years in a variety of important roles: Assistant Middle School Director, Head Teacher and House Advisor in the First Program and the Middle School, Associate Teacher, Co-President of the Faculty Association, Founding Chair of the Professional Development Committee, and, of course, Dalton parent. Tracy’s Dalton experience has afforded her a deep appreciation for the school’s mission, vision and values as well as a strong interest in the school’s future. Those who know Tracy, and those who became familiar with her during the interview process, commented on Tracy’s warmth, compassion, intelligence and love for children...Students are at the heart of Tracy’s thinking and decision-making...Tracy's focus on students, love for Dalton and commitment to excellence bode well for the Middle School."
When asked about her appointment, Ms. Fedonchik said, "Our community of students, faculty, families, administrators and staff inspire me on a daily basis, and it is such an honor to have been chosen as the next Middle School Director. I am thrilled to serve our students and the mission of our school in this new role and look forward to the exciting work ahead."
In the announcement, Ms. Stein also thanked current Middle School Director, Lorri Hamilton Durbin, "whose exemplary leadership will leave the Middle School in very good shape as Tracy takes charge in the 2017-18 academic year." Ms. Fedonchik begins her new position on July, 1 2017.
