House 33 Students Inspired by Artist Jim Dine & Valentine's Day

House 33 students have been learning and discussing the idea of ancestors, and the fact that nearly all of their families come from somewhere else - either parents or further back. What does it mean to relocate? What can House 33 students do to help make people feel comfortable in a new environment?

Rhea’s mom Diksha Mudbhary, and other fellow moms worked on a campaign to have children make Valentine cards with positive messages of hope and welcome. House 33 kindergarteners were happy to contribute to this effort.
The students created hearts inspired by American painter and artist Jim Dine. Before painting the hearts, the students thought about primary and complementary colors.

The students wrote welcoming and meaningful messages to go with their hearts. They donated their hearts to the IRC (International Rescue Committee) on behalf of the class.
