A middle school robotics event filled the 89th Street building on February 11, 2017, with teams competing from across the city, including two Dalton teams. High school students planned the event and served as referees, while faculty volunteers acted as judges.  The 87th Street Physical Education Center welcomed two high school robotics tournaments on February 18 and 19. Over 50 teams from around the city and two teams visiting from Jamaica competed.  Dalton students once again planned and ran the event, with judges and volunteers from local schools and tech companies.

Middle School Robotics Team Wins First Place to Advance to Manhattan Championships
The event was a great success, and one of Dalton’s MS robotics teams won the first place performance award for their work on the game field. That award earned them a spot to compete in the Manhattan championship.

Dalton High School Robotics Teams Joins Forces to Take First Place Overall and Other Awards to Qualify for the NYC Championships
Two of Dalton’s high school robotics teams, Uncertainty Principle and General Relativity, competed.  After going undefeated in their qualifying matches, Uncertainty Principle chose General Relativity and a team from Francis Lewis HS as their partners for the playoffs and took first place overall. Uncertainty also won the top judged award, the Inspire Award, for their work both on and off the playing field.  General Relativity won the Think Award, given to the team that best exemplifies the engineering process.  Both teams qualified to join our other three high school teams at the NYC Championship competition on Sunday 2/26.

Please join us in congratulating the students and faculty on their hard work, and wishing them best of luck at the upcoming NYC championships!
