The Dalton community celebrated Hispanic/Latin@culture at “¡La Gran Fiesta!” hosted by HOLA (Dalton’s Hispanic heritage club) and the Dalton PA Hispanic/Latin@ Organization. HOLA prides itself on bringing more awareness of Hispanic/Latino affairs to the greater school community and welcomes everyone, including interested non-Hispanics/non-Latinos to club meetings and events, such as the Fiesta.
The event joined students, parents, faculty, and staff together for a night of endless fun. The evening started off with activities such as decorating maracas, playing Spanish Bingo, taking instant photos and embellishing the frames, or taking pictures in a photo booth. Two dancers demonstrated how to dance the Merengue, the Dominican Republic’s most popular dance style. The night ended with a piñata that everyone enjoyed having a chance to hit.
Who could forget about the delicious food that was served? Many of the dishes and desserts were made and brought in by members of the Dalton community, which is what made the food such a memorable part of the night.
Stay tuned for details for the 2018 ¡La Gran Fiesta!, which promises to be bigger and better. We hope to see you there next year!
