Dalton Seniors Prepare for Peer Leadership Program at Brant Lake Camp

Dalton Seniors spent three days in the Adirondack Mountains at Brant Lake Camp to prepare for the Grade 9 Peer Leadership Retreat.
The Dalton Peer Leadership Program is designed for members of the Senior class to mentor Grade 9 students as they enter High School and guide conversations on social justice, identity development, and community leadership. On the first two days of their Retreat, Peer Leaders worked with our partners at Mountain Workshop during the day and Dalton's Faculty Advisors in the evening. With Mountain Workshop, students participated in team-building activities such as twelve-person venture canoeing and the paper rocket challenge. These are activities they will in turn lead with Grade 9 students at the August retreat.

With the Faculty Advisors, students entered into activities and discussions that create bonds and reaffirm topics of social justice and identity development. Community building highlights included an incredible dinner-making challenge where students displayed their best culinary skills, exciting games of beach volleyball down at the lake, and the best-played game of Dead Fish ever -- a challenging advanced version of the traditional children's game Red Light, Green Light.

A special thanks to our partners at Mountain Workshop and our Peer Leadership Faculty Advisors Shahar Atary, Juliet Baker, Nick Lechich, Rashaad Phillips, and Blake Pearson.
