The Dalton Tigers Football team had an exciting finish to their season beating the Horace Mann Lions 14-12 on Saturday. After a defensive battle in the first half, the game went into halftime scoreless. The Lions struck first with a TD from their QB. Dalton answered right away with a big kick off return from senior Evan Wolpert inside the Horace Mann 20 yard line. Fellow senior Josh Kaufman finished off the drive with a three-yard touchdown run. The defensive struggle continued until three minutes remaining in the game when senior Zion Billey forced a fumble and Kaufman scooped it up and outran the Horace Mann team to the end zone. Kaufman then converted the two-point conversions to give the Tigers a 14-6 lead. After a late score by Horace Mann, the Dalton defense prevailed again stopping the Horace Mann two-point conversion to seal the victory. Dalton finished the season with a 3-3 overall record.
