First Graders Make Sandwiches to Help Those in Need
Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, grace, and serving others. To get into the spirit, First Program students assembled some very tasty care packages and packaged them for the New York Common Pantry as part of our 1st grade community service tradition.
First Grade Houses worked together to make cheese and turkey sandwiches for people in need during the Thanksgiving holiday. After carefully preparing the sandwiches, each House placed them in brown paper bags which they decorated with colorful turkeys and Thanksgiving messages to give to the New York Common Pantry.
The entire grade and House Advisors then gathered in the First Program Gym to celebrate their hard work, share their own personal words of serving, talk about the importance of giving back to local communities.
