Student Volunteers Lend Helping Hands for the NY Common Pantry
The Community Service Club participated in the Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive to support the NY Common Pantry.
The Community Service Club, which has a long standing relationship with the Pantry, asked middle school students and faculty to donate at least one item of food (e.g., shelf stable milk, rice, turkey gravy, or cranberry sauce) for this annual food drive. The Pantry, in turn, packed up a box containing all the trimmings for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner and then donated to families in the area who would otherwise lack provisions. In addition to this Thanksgiving food drive, The Common Pantry -- which provides the homeless with food on a weekly basis -- plans on servicing nearly 3000 families this year.
